Troy City Brewing & Distilling will permanently close its Fall River, Massachusetts taproom after eight years. The brewery says September 30, 2026 will be its final day of service at 16 Anawan Street.

What Troy City announced

The brewery shared the closure news on September 13 and thanked its staff and the people who supported the business. It invited customers to return for a final visit before the end of the month. The announcement did not state why the brewery and distillery is closing.

WPRI and The Herald News both reported the September 30 final date.

An eight-year run in Fall River

Fall River natives Keith Carvalho and Mike Ferreira launched Troy City Brewing & Distilling in December 2018, according to The Herald News. The taproom occupied part of a former textile mill building shared with the Narrows Center for the Arts.

Troy City built its identity around small-batch beer, spirits, live entertainment, and names connected to local places and history. The Herald News reported a lineup that included Troy, 7Hillz, Snake Hill, Lafayette, Anawan Street, Highland, Broken Hatchet, and Maple Croft.

The location also had an outdoor beer garden and worked with nearby food trucks and the arts venue on events. That combination made the business a gathering place as well as a brewery.

What happens to the brewing equipment?

The Herald News reported that Troy City's brewing equipment was scheduled to go to auction in early October. An equipment sale can signal that the current operation will not resume in the same form, but the article should not be read as a statement about the building's next use or the future of the Troy City name. Those details have not been announced.

What customers should know

The final service date is September 30. Customers planning a last visit should check Troy City's current hours and social channels because inventory, food, events, and daily operations can change during a closing period.

The reason for the closure remains undisclosed. Craft Beer Critics will update this page if Troy City publishes more information.

The closure follows Outerbelt Brewing's reported plan to close in Carroll, Ohio, another reminder that brewery news should be reported business by business rather than reduced to one unsupported explanation.
